BILLBOARD News about people, products, places & plans AIA Cleveland Hosts 12th Annual Canstruction Event as co-chairs of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. A IA Cleveland hosted the 12th annual Canstruction event recently, in which archi-tects, engineers, contractors, interior designers and students team up to build creative designs out of food cans, which are then donated to the Cleveland Food Bank. This year’s event was held at South Park Mall in Strongsville – and raised $4,000 for the Food Bank, plus 40,000 pounds of canned goods. A record 16 teams were challenged to conceive, design and build sculptures fitting this year’s theme of “Champions of Hunger,” which were viewed by thousands of shoppers. Teams included AIA Akron, “Time For Spinach” (Domokur Architects) AIA Cleveland, Bialosky + Partners, Cleveland State University, Domokur Architects, DS Architecture, GPD Group, Hasenstab Architects, HSB Architects, USGBC, Herschman Architects, A.M. Higley Company, Leiden Cabinet Company, Perspectus Architecture and Sol Harris Day Architecture, plus a special children’s entry. Awards were then presented at a dinner ceremony. Over the last 12 years, donations have included 239,000 pounds of canned goods and thousands of dollars awarded. CT Consultants Adds New Senior Project Manager Regional engineering, architecture and planning firm CT Consultants, Inc. recently announced the addition of Julie Thomas, PE, as a senior project man-ager. Thomas has over 24 years of experience working on a variety of public works projects for state agencies, colleges and universities, park districts, municipalities, counties and private firms. She will handle projects from conception through construction, including acquiring project funding.
